Mr. Pawan Tewari is currently working as the Managing Director in investment banking at Goldman Sachs & co-heads the Technology Mergers & Acquisition business based out of San Francisco, CA, USA. He completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1988. The area of freshwater preservation and addressing the ever-increasing trend of soil, water and air pollution is an area of keen interest to the donor and hence the faculty chair endowment will be established to fund research on these topics. The Sustainability Faculty Endowment will be established to fund honorarium and research grant of a Professor at IIT Kanpur to promote focused research on freshwater resources and environmental degradation that affects human and planetary health.

The generous contributions by Mr. Pawan Tewari, with an objective to support the establishment of this Faculty Chair at IITK, will be utilized for carrying out the following activities:

• The Chair incumbent is expected to develop new learning paradigms and training method for disseminating knowledge by formulating training programs, offering short term courses, conferences, workshops, seminars, colloquium etc. in the domain of freshwater preservation and addressing the ever-increasing trend of soil, water and air pollution.
• Promote excellence in research and leadership focused on freshwater resources and environmental degradation that affects human and planetary health by publishing research work in reputed national and international conferences, journals, articles, books, undertaking various projects and research collaboration.
• Significantly contribute to the academia of IITK with distinguished contribution to teaching, provide leadership in curriculum development, design of courses, and innovations in the delivery of teaching in his/her discipline, all in the field of Sustainability.
• Supervise the doctoral students enrolled under him/her by inculcating the ethos of research and nurturing their intellectual curiosity, thereby strengthening the overall research legacy of the institute, all in the fields of Sustainability.
