Mr. Lalit Jalan is Ex-CEO, Reliance Infrastructure; Founder, Angel Investor, Thought Leader, and Technology Evangelist.
He was Chairman - India, of 3Lines Venture Capital, a US based venture capital firm, which invests in start-ups with AI and disruptive software technology.
A CEO of 25 years, Lalit Jalan is a visionary business leader in India with a career spanning over four decades growing diverse businesses in Finance, Infrastructure, Power, Telecom, Manufacturing, Petrochemicals, Cement, and Defense sectors.
He Joined Reliance Industries in 1995 as the organisation's youngest ever CEO. Thereafter he served in many critical leadership positions across the Group. Most recently he was the Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Infrastructure Limited and Group Director - Strategy & Corporate Affairs of Reliance Group, He was also Chairman of BSES Delhi Power Distribution companies.
In a decade's time, he was instrumental in steering the transformation of BSES (Mumbai) into Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. with leading presence across Power, Roads, Metro, Airports and Cement. He transformed Delhi Discoms from profusely bleeding utility into a world class electricity utility.
Mr. Jalan completed B.Tech from IIT, Kanpur in 1979; did MBA in Finance from Wharton School and Masters in Computer Science from University of Pennsylvania in 1982. He was consistently in top 1% of his class and was in the Director's Honours and Dean's List at Wharton.
He is a born entrepreneur with passion for technology. Strongly believes in people development through empowerment. An avid sportsman, he represented college in Cricket, Bridge & Swimming.
He was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award by IIT, Kanpur (2004); selected for IITK@50 at IIT Kanpur (2010); showcased as one of IIT system's top 15 achievers at the 1st PAN IIT meet in California (2003).
