IIT Kanpur organizes blood donation camp on the occasion of 75th Republic Day

 

   

Kanpur, 27 January, 2024: On the auspicious occasion of the 75th Republic Day, Raktarpan, IIT Kanpur, in collaboration with Rotary Club of Kanpur Shaurya and BloodConnect, organized the Diamond Jubilee Mega Blood Donation Camp at the IIT Kanpur campus. Held across the venues at Yoga Hall, Hall 2, GH 1 and Hall 12, the event saw coordinated efforts from IMA Charitable Blood Bank, GSVM Medical College Blood Bank, Shyam Bihari Tiwari Charitable Blood Centre and D Stairs Charitable Blood Bank. Encouraging participation from a large number of students, faculty, and staff members amplified the significance of the noble cause.


The event recorded a total of 355 donors voluntarily registering to donate blood. After due mandatory medical checkup, 316 units of blood were received. 113 units of blood were donated at Yoga Hall location; 51 units of blood were donated at GH1; 52 units of blood were donated at Hall 2 and 100 units of blood were donated at Hall 12.


From Raktarpan, IIT Kanpur, Akshat Jain, Mitali Khetan, and Reeteswaroop Singh coordinated the event. Additionally, volunteers including Dhruv Bansal, Mohan Rajput, Shubham Maurya, Harsh Kumar, Eesha Sihare, Surya Shukla, Sameer Kashyap, Sowmya, Arvind Devkate, Harsh Patil, Harshit, Yash Giri, Smith, Mantavya Upadhyay, Apporva, Akansha, Rahul Bokan, Devansh Dhookia, Ridham Modi, Parv Goyal, Manisha, and Rohit Chauhan actively participated and contributed to organizing the event.


The event witnessed the presence of Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Kanpur Shaurya, including Charter President Amitabh Gupta, Club President Rajesh Kapoor, Amit Mitra, Bhupesh Srivastava, Dr. Swapna Maurya, Pradeep Gupta, Ajay Agarwal, Ajay Srivastava, Pankaj Kapoor, Deepak Malviya, and Harish Bhatia. Volunteers from BloodConnect included Tushar Basak, Manu Srivastava, Abhimanyu Jain, Rameshwar Lokhande, and Kanishk Maheshwari.
