Research Topic

With rapid development of microwave & millimeter wave technologies, developing wireless components and systems are of prime interest now a days. At these frequencies, the circuit building blocks are closely related to each other via electromagnetic couplings and interconnect which can be eliminated by the use of non planar waveguide based circuits. Recently a new technology has emerged known as "Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW)" which incorporates waveguide circuits in planar form & thus inherits the advantages of both planar & non-planar circuits. Realization of different components e.g. antennas, filters, directional couplers, diplexers with SIW technology have attracted much attention among the researchers in recent years. Different antenna feeding configurations e.g. cavity backed slot antenna, waveguide slotted array antennas can be implemented using SIW technologies. The objective of the proposed research work is to study different configurations for both single element and multi-element slot antennas in SIW environment to improve its performance in terms of bandwidth, gain, efficiency etc.
